Terms of Service
Last updated: March 22, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Versal, a writing application made by Ting Ting Wei (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using Versal, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Versal.
1. What Versal is
Versal is a cloud-synced writing application for long-form projects. It lets you organize, write, edit, and share manuscripts, and it stores your work so you can access it across devices.
2. Your account
You need an account to use Versal. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Versal.
3. Your content
You own your writing. Everything you create in Versal — manuscripts, notes, comments, synopses — belongs to you. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
Limited license to us. By using Versal, you grant us a limited license to store, transmit, back up, display, and sync your content solely to provide the Versal service to you. This license exists only so the application can function. We will not use your content for any other purpose.
Your responsibility. You are responsible for the content you create and share through Versal. You may not use Versal to store or distribute content that is unlawful, infringes on others' rights, or violates these Terms.
4. Sharing and review
Versal lets you share projects with reviewers via share links. When you share a project:
- Reviewers can view your manuscript and leave comments and suggestions
- You control access. You can revoke a share link at any time
- Reviewer feedback (comments, suggestions) belongs to the reviewer who created it, but you receive a license to view, use, and incorporate that feedback into your work
5. Free and paid plans
Versal offers a free plan with a word limit and a paid plan (“Pro”) with additional features. Pricing, features, and limits are described on our website and may change. If you are on a paid plan:
- You will be billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your selection)
- You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law
- If your paid plan lapses, you retain access to your content but may lose access to Pro features. You will not lose your writing
6. Data, backups, and availability
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption at rest and in transit, and independent off-site backups.
However, no service can guarantee 100% availability or zero data loss. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important work. Versal supports exporting projects as PDF, DOCX, and plain text to help you do this.
We may occasionally need to interrupt the service for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen technical issues. We will try to minimize disruption and provide notice when practical.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Versal for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from Versal
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or overload the service
- Share content that infringes on intellectual property rights
- Use Versal to store or distribute malware
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
8. Deletion and data removal
Trash. When you move a project to the trash, it is retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted, along with all associated reviewer data.
Account deletion. You may delete your account at any time. When you do, we will delete all of your data from our primary database and backups, subject to our normal backup rotation cycle.
Our right to remove. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law, or in response to valid legal process.
9. Intellectual property
Versal and its original content (excluding your writing), features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. “Versal” and the Versal logo are our trademarks.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
Versal is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any defects will be corrected.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of Versal.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Versal is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Versal, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice within the application. Continued use of Versal after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you should stop using Versal and delete your account.
14. Termination
You may stop using Versal and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue Versal, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
16. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding Versal.
